About the Author
Danielle is Founder and CEO of MissNowMrs.com. Prior to founding her company she was the number one sales representative for a cancer diagnostic equipment company. Her first job after college was selling Canon copiers while hiding from office building security guards. She received a BA in Biology from Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College. Tate lives outside Washington, D.C. with her husband, son, and two mischievous cats. When not writing books, running her company, and raising her family she enjoys early morning Megaformer workouts, trips to the Turks and Caicos Islands, cooking, and drinking champagne in the bathtub.

An Excellent Endeavor

Elegant Entrepreneur, hereafter referred to as E2, can be a quick read the first time. If the reader is serious about starting a business, it should not be the last read. E2 is well written, organized, concise and useful. Danielle blends exhaustive research, personal experience, numerous examples and a plethora of resources into a very readable reference. As you read E2, it can be tempting to go directly to "Takeaways" and "How It Feels" at the end of each chapter. Don't, because you miss analysis and and guidance for application of the aforementioned research, experience, etc. E2 is conversational in format; I can see Danielle speaking as I read E2. Full disclosure, I have known her for some time. E2 has applicability to current entrepreneurs who might want a reality check as to where their current enterprise is developmentally. I also see utility for project management and organizational development.

As a social worker who knows the struggle of attempting to go into business for one’s self, I regard The Elegant Entrepreneur as a tremendous resource for women. While it is geared toward entrepreneurs, it is also extremely helpful for the savvy female professional who is seeking to increase her intelligence quotient around business and professional opportunities in a more general sense. While perhaps not always ideal, gender continues to matter significantly in today’s society and business world, as the average woman knows full well. Navigating this world and its accompanying challenges often requires a sense of confidence and ingenuity that can be very fragile when you are trying something new or are first starting out. Thus, this how-to guide for entrepreneurs, written specifically from the perspective of a woman and for the express purpose of supporting other women, is a refreshing and much needed resource. As a licensed therapist, I paid special attention to the sections at the end of each chapter, titled “How It Feels”. I found the “How It Feels” feature extremely helpful and very much in keeping with the author’s commitment to honor the female perspective, as wise women know that feelings often point us toward insights, both business and personal, that we might be tempted to overlook. The Elegant Entrepreneur shows women how to see potential obstacles as opportunities and how to avoid common pitfalls that can derail otherwise excellent business ideas. It is an easy and enjoyable read for women of all professional backgrounds.

Elegant Entrepreneur Exceeds Expectations

As a young woman with a lot of 'ideas' I read this book to gain some insight into what the steps are to starting a business. The woman's perspective was incredibly helpful in tone, terms and most of all insight. Danielle's own entrepreneurial success really provided a strong foundation for the book and helped stock the right questions in my mind, step by step, on how to get started. The process, while daunting, seems much more manageable now with this book as a reference.
